Whistleblowing Policy

1. Introduction

SignConnects is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in all its operations. This Whistleblowing Policy provides a framework for employees, candidates and other stakeholders to report concerns regarding unethical, illegal, or improper conduct within the organisation. SignConnects is committed to ensuring that whistleblowers are protected from retaliation or victimisation.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all employees, volunteers, contractors, and any other individuals associated with SignConnects. Concerns that can be reported under this policy include, but are not limited to:

  • Impersonating a candidates work 
  • Harassment, discrimination, or bullying
  • Financial malpractice or mismanagement
  • Breach of legal or regulatory obligations
  • Abuse of authority or misuse of company resources
  • Any other unethical or improper conduct

3. Reporting Procedures

3.1 How to report a concern

  • Initial Reporting: Concerns should be reported as soon as possible, either verbally or in writing, to the designated Whistleblowing Officer at SignConnects. 
  • Anonymous Reporting: Reports can be made anonymously. However, anonymous reports may limit the organisation’s ability to investigate the concern fully and provide feedback.

4. Investigation Process

4.1 Acknowledgement and Initial Assessment

Upon receiving a report, the Whistleblowing Officer will acknowledge receipt within five working days and conduct an initial assessment to determine the appropriate course of action.

4.2 Investigation

The investigation will be conducted impartially, ensuring confidentiality to the fullest extent possible. The scope and scale of the investigation will depend on the nature of the concern raised. The whistleblower may be asked to provide further information or clarification during the investigation.

4.3 Outcome

Upon conclusion of the investigation, the whistleblower will be informed of the outcome, where appropriate, and any actions taken. SignConnects may not be able to provide detailed information if it conflicts with the confidentiality rights of others.

5. Protection for Whistleblowers

SignConnects is committed to protecting whistleblowers from retaliation, harassment, or victimisation. Any individual who retaliates against a whistleblower centre is likely to be subjected to sanctions as a last resort termination of contract. 

6. Confidentiality

All reports made under this policy will be treated with the highest degree of confidentiality. The identity of the whistleblower will not be disclosed without their consent unless required by law.

7. Malicious or False Accusations

If a report is found to be made maliciously or knowingly false, the individual responsible may be subject to disciplinary action from there centre. This policy does not protect individuals who make allegations they know to be untrue.

8. Review of the Policy

This Whistleblowing Policy will be reviewed annually or as needed to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with relevant laws and best practices.
