2. Definition of Malpractice
Malpractice is defined as any deliberate, unethical or unlawful act that contravenes SignConnects or Ofqual policies, procedures or legal requirements. Examples of malpractice include, but are not limited to:
- Academic Malpractice: Cheating, plagiarism, falsification of results, or any other form of dishonesty in assessments or certifications.
- Financial Malpractice: Fraud, embezzlement, misappropriation of funds or financial misreporting.
- Workplace Malpractice: Breach of health and safety regulations, harassment, bullying, discrimination or abuse of authority.
- Misuse of Resources: Unauthorised use of company resources for personal gain, including intellectual property, physical assets and confidential information.
- Non-compliance with Regulations: Failure to comply with legal or regulatory obligations, or the organisation’s internal policies.
3. Reporting Malpractice
3.1 How to report a concern
- Initial Reporting: Concerns about malpractice should be reported promptly, either verbally or in writing, to the designated Malpractice Officer at SignConnects.
- Anonymous Reporting: Reports can be made anonymously. However, anonymous reports may limit the organisation’s ability to investigate the concern fully and provide feedback.

4. Investigation Process
4.1 Acknowledgement and Initial Assessment

Employees, volunteers or contractors found to have engaged in malpractice will face causes the centre to be subjected to sanctions. In cases where criminal activity is suspected, the matter may be referred to the appropriate authorities.

SignConnects is committed to protecting individuals who report malpractice in good faith from retaliation, harassment or victimisation. Any form of retaliation against a whistleblower will not be tolerated and will result sanctions against the centre.

All reports of malpractice will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. The identity of the individual reporting the concern will not be disclosed without their consent unless required by law.
