Extraordinary Circumstances are defined as unexpected, unavoidable events beyond the centre’s control that prevent the centre from conducting summative assessments online. In such cases, the centre must complete the “Delay in Summative Assessment” form, available here, and submit it to the admin teamat adminteam@SignConnects.org.uk as soon as reasonably possible.
The centre will be notified within two working days as to whether their request to postpone the summative assessment has been approved. If approved, the SignConnects admin team will work closely with the centre to arrange a new assessment date for the candidates. If candidates are unable to complete the summative assessment at their educational centre, the centre must provide a list of the candidates affected by the postponement due to extraordinary circumstances.
Candidates may have the option to complete the summative assessment at home within a specified time frame. If the delay is due to a Wi-Fi outage caused by the main service provider that cannot be resolved within 14 days, the centre must submit evidence from the service provider in the form of a letter. Candidates completing the assessment at home must not confer with other candidates. All summative assessments are 45 minutes long unless reasonable adjustments have been granted to extend the time for specific candidates.
Candidates requiring additional support due to reasonable adjustments may either take their summative assessment at another centre listed by SignConnects or at a suitable alternative venue provided by their current centre. If candidates cannot access their summative assessment due to technical issues originating from SignConnects, they will automatically be granted another date to complete the assessment without additional costs.
However, any technical difficulties arising from the centre’s side must be resolved by the centre unless it’s outside of their control. If a candidate needs to reschedule the assessment due to personal issues, they will need to complete a re-take form the centre will be charged a fee to re-take the assessment. This rescheduled assessment should be done within 14 days of payment confirmation.
Extraordinary Circumstances are not subjected to additional fees. The forms must be submitted by centre manager.
